Cannabis is a psychological addiction, not physical, but that does not mean it is in any way less damaging to the addict.

Like gambling, and sex?

:)

Actually, the way that question is phrased is bad. Let me try again.

Similiar to gambling, and sex?

Not "do you enjoy gambling and sex?". :)

not the same thing.

Why not?

or are there laws that say you cant drive after gambling or having sex?

Alcohol is legal, and one cannot drive under the influence of that.

Is it strawman time already?

A point that I see coming up on these threads is that it is stated that tobacco and alcohol are more dangerous than cannabis.

If people feel so strongly about this why isn't anyone campaigning to change legislation in these areas ?

Because ...

... Prohibition doesn't work.

*takes a bow* :)

That's my point. You say that sex addition is the same, but its not.

not really. I understand the similarities between one drug to the other, but that does not mean ALL drugs should be legal. If Alcohol was discovered tomorrow it would not be made legal.

If cannabis should be illegal because it is psychologically addictive, like sex - then sex should be illegal.

If cannabis should be illegal because one cannot drive under the influence, like alcohol - then alcohol should be illegal.

Non?

no, you are making connection that simply are not there, and like I said before, just because ONE drug is legal that does not mean ALL drugs should be the same.

Sex and cannabis are psychologically addictive, but you can drive after having as much sex as you like, however it is illegal to drive under the influence of cannabis. There fore its not the same.

Oh. You've added a second bit. Just seen it.

Sex and cannabis are not the same, because while both are psychologically addictive, one can drive after sex.

Okay. Fair comment. :)

Do you accept that something that is psychologically addictive is damaging to the addict (your words), and thus should be illegal?

I voted no after reading the NHS website re: the dangers of cannabis.

http://www.nhs.uk/Livewell/drugs/Pages/Cannabisdangers.aspx

The argument that alcohol and tobacco harm/kill people and are legal doesn't wash really.

Why would the government make legal a drug that could potentially harm you.

Also it is reported that cannabis can cause schizophrenia in younger people and exacerbate the problem in people already suffering from schizophrenia.

Just say no!
