Mister M   1,609 #49 Posted June 16, 2013 (edited) I have read the examples you provided, for which I thank you. They are indeed very sad. The people who have taken this decision to end their lives show us the evils of the benefit culture.  Socialism is indeed a blot on our social history, had these poor people not been forced into a life of dependency they may well have been able to make a contribution to our social fabric and lead more fullfilling and satisfing lives.  I hope that the present government or hopefully one with a tory majority after 2015 continues in its quest to end this blight on our society which has gone on for far too long.  You clearly have a preconcieved idea that all claimants form the 'benefits culture', (in spite of the fact that many worked before being too ill for work) and whichever cases are quoted you will dismiss as they don't fall into your world view.  Many studies show that in spite of what the gutter press says, there aren't massive numbers families where 3 and 4 generations haven't worked. But when they are reported they are done in a way to paint a picture that everyone on benefits is lazy, conning the system and leading the life of Riley. In fact the DWPs own research, not widely publicised by ministers shows that four out of five claimants spent at least three quarters of the past four years off unemployment benefit:http://www.newstatesman.com/politics/2013/03/myth-welfare-scrounger  As many Tories in the debate in the HoC agreed (see #21), in the ATOS interviews many sick people were incorrectly assessesed and died shortly afterwards. That this company recieve billions of taxpayers money per year adds to the scandal. Edited June 16, 2013 by Mister M
 Share this content via...
Mister M Â Â 1,609 #50 Posted July 12, 2013 I have read the examples you provided, for which I thank you. They are indeed very sad. Â I hope that the present government or hopefully one with a tory majority after 2015 continues in its quest to end this blight on our society which has gone on for far too long. Â Apparently the Department for Work and Pensions will no longer collect the statistics on deaths of benefit recipients. It is thought that since the coallition took over in 2010, there has been a rise in the number of deaths of disabled people (courtesy of Atos). Because the statistics won't be collected, they vcannot be cited as evidence as policy failure. http://mydisabilitystudiesblackboard.blogspot.ca/2013/06/my-latest-letter-to-iain-duncan-smith.html
 Share this content via...
MadManMoon   10 #51 Posted July 13, 2013 Unemployment down, total employment never been higher.. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-22868901 Looks like all the non-jobs in the public sector and shaking out nicely as well and there are a good number of private sector jobs coming along. All good news.  Funny no-one on here mentions it. I wonder why  The usual abuse from the usual suspects will have to wait for an answer - I have a meeting to get to.  Here's a few porkies by Cameron. I'm sure unemployment figures will be in there somewhere. http://cameron-cloggysmoralcompass.blogspot.co.uk/p/coalition-christmas.html  ---------- Post added 13-07-2013 at 10:52 ----------  Unemployment down, total employment never been higher.. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-22868901 Looks like all the non-jobs in the public sector and shaking out nicely as well and there are a good number of private sector jobs coming along. The figures at the minute are still shocking, are you actually happy with them?
 Share this content via...
