  1. 1. Should we be spending half a mil on events like Saturday?

    • Yes, free speech is vital no matter what the cost
    • Yes, but the protestors should have to contribute something
    • No, we can't afford it
    • E-E-EDL, muslamic rayguns, eh???? wot were question again?

I agree.

But invading city centres and wandering around giving nazi salutes does suggest a certain mindset. One that needs countering robustly.

There is a police force for that, who do you ****wits think you are??

The EDL are not a political party, they wont/cant implement their agenda in any way. Radical Islam on the other hand is political, and it briefly got in in Tower Hamlets in London; they openly preach and recruit in some mosques and university campus's, why don't you counter that robustly? oh yeah I forgot, the UAF has got into bed with radical Islam, appointing an Islamic extremist as vice chair.

Talk about having your cake and eating it.

Radical Islam is as much a political force as the EDL. Neither are able to be political parties (Radical Islam because it's a type of religious expression, the EDL because they don't want to be), but both can make political points and drive public opinion towards a desired outcome shared by their respective supporters.

Do you think Yaxley-Lennon appearing on the national news going 'It's time this advance of Sharia law destroying our country was stopped' is not a political statement?

Radical Islam is a global problem that seeks to destroy and murder anything in its path .

The EDL on the other hand is a national problem caused by a few drunkards intent on a scrap and making stupid gestures at people .

That doesn't make the behaviour of the EDL acceptable. We have laws against people trying to destroy and murder anything in its path, we don't need or want a few drunkards intent on a scrap and making stupid gestures to defend us from those idiots subscribed to radical Islam. All they do is inflame the situation.

I didnt say it was acceptable behaviour , I condemn the EDL at every opportunity.

The " idiots " as you brand them , obviously feel threatened by something world leaders and millions of people see as a major threat to the way we love our lives .

9/11 7/7 Lee Rigby etc etc are all symptoms of the problem that is radical Islam , so please don't expect people of the EDL's mindset to just ignore what is a massive problem clearly.

They go about what they do in a wrong sometimes disgusting manner yet you cannot ignore the issues they raise .

Obviously we do have involvement in the international efforts to take on radical islam in many theatres however the primary theatre we need concern ourselves with is the UK itself.

At a time when the security services should be able to focus the bulk of their resources on countering the very real islamist threat they are having to divert huge amounts of time and resources protecting muslims from the EDL and chums.

The naivety of EDL followers is not echoed by the rest of society. Their hate filled organisation makes up just 0.17% of the population of Britain.

Are you sure?

The EDL has less than 500 active members and even three days after the murder of Drummer Rigby, their national demo could only attract around 1500 people.

That makes them more like 0.002% of the population.

Do your think its riot police that are countering the radical Islamic vermin threat , or could it be the secret intelligence services ?

And protecting Muslims :hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi: don't make me laugh , those police were there to protect the EDL from the nutcases that couldn't stand the thought of them "laying a wreath"

Actually, they don't have any members. They run no membership scheme - this has two advantages: 1) nobody can find out how many people support them; 2) nobody can accidentally leak a list of members (like keeps happening with the BNP).

It all means they can claim to represent the majority of the UK, while only having a handful of people doing that repressionrepresentation, and anyone who does go on a march or two with them doesn't have to worry about pesky repercussions if anyone found out.

And yet you froth at the mouth about them like they're some big deal.

I don't! lol :hihi:

I laugh at them as the clowns they are.

What does annoy me is that they have stayed away from Sheffield for over four years. Calling a demo in Sheffield and expecting it to be supported by local people is an insult to the working class people of this fine city. Yes, they may be no big deal but they have annoyed a lot of people with their disrespectful behaviour since the death of Lee Rigby.
