Its' head of state is entitled " Defender of the Faith"

 

Until the Queen is also head of the "Council of Atheists" and Richard Dawkins can likewise put on a purple dress and a silly hat and start lecturing people about their sex lives, we will never have a truly secular state. :D

Maybe we should look to Turkey for secular inspiration.

I often wonder why the Archbishop of Canterbury has to pipe up and interfere in politics, but then you have to realise he does have a seat in the House of Lords. I don't see why the role of bishops cannot be reduced to a constitutional one for ceremonial duties only.

 

It's funny when he speaks up against austerity or for the uncut movement, that's when he is right on and relevant, the week after he is devil incarnate for opposing gay marriage and should just shut up.
