Which is the best Persian/Iranian restaurant in Sheffield?

 

Got a new colleague from Iran and she's looking to visit one, so any advice welcome.

Artins on Abbeydale Road is a quality authentic Persian restaurant.

I've enjoyed eating at Shiraz a couple of times, although this was a few years ago.

Initially recommended by an Iranian colleague who ate there regularly.(oh and she's very fussy about her food)!!

Also recommended by her was the Persia Take Away in Upperthorpe, which was one of my favourite take aways in Sheffield - authentic Persian/Iranian dishes of high quality. I visited Iran in 2008, and loved the food, so I often popped in there. Sadly it closed, and I

don't know if they opened another place.

Hoping to try the other Iranian/Persian restaurants on London/ Abbeydale Road.

Artins certainly looks interesting, with its tea house.

Last time I drive by (a few weeks ago) Shiraz was still there,near Oriental carpet shop.I think Caspian is nearer to town than Shiraz on the same road on the opposite side, though I will check again next week.

I've heard good things about Shahrzad(?) on London Rd, but am yet to try it.

I used o like it but was not so impressed last time I went.

Shiraz has been Persepolis for at least a couple of years now. It got a pretty poor rating from the hygiene inspectors 18 months ago but I've eaten there recently and didn't come to any harm.

 

The menu is mostly chicken, lamb and rice (like most middle eastern restaurants).
