orbs   10 #85 Posted May 24, 2013 In the 60's when i started my working life i worked in a shop on Darnall, every morning most of the shops would send someone out to sweep the pavement. at home we would scrub and brown stone our steps or as in my case it was 'cardinel white' put on with an old shaving brush of dads. When i got married and my own house i thought 'sod that' and i never scrubbed another step!
 Share this content via...
blues1   10 #86 Posted May 24, 2013 Take a tip from somebody who posted on Sheffield Discussion: Park your car outside William Hill Wait for one of them to lean on your car Drive off   Well it was true and there was 2 of them that bounced down the road and they wasnt leaning on the car they were sat on it.Since then my 72yr old mother in law has not been allowed room to pass by and was insulted when she complained. The police are too frightened to do anything for fear of escalating racial tensions. Longcol   602 #87 Posted May 24, 2013 ...That would be because we generally don't run trains through housing estates.  Really - I thought every city, and town of any decent size had a station?
 Share this content via...

Total Chaos   10 #90 Posted May 24, 2013 I hope my perspective is useful, I recently returned to the city after 25years away. The changes are terrifying, it is as though we have been taken over by aliens.  The most worrying thing is the sheer complacency. You vote in the same useless corrupt politicians, the media conspire in the quasi liberal conspiracy. What remains of the indigenous( yes I mean white) population are, in general, fat, unemployable thick as bricks yet retaining a air of superiority that would be funny if it was not so pathetic.  We need a revolution, (when I left I thought it might come from the left) as the left no longer exists and has been subsumed into the morass of the middle I fear the situation is hopeless.  We have in a way lol
 Share this content via...

Green Web   10 #92 Posted May 24, 2013 Notice how they open loads of bookies in deprived and run down areas, how many money lending shops are in Darnall I bet there's loads...  Bookies are modern day pubs and community centres, they actually provide many valuable services for the vulnerable, lonely, unemployed sports lovers, many people just hang around bookies for warmth / air conditioning and to socialise. You can watch Sky Sports for free and many bookies give people free cups of tea as well!  Without bookies many people would have no / few friends or life, they're a fantastic neutral meeting place where these folk can socialise with like minded sports lovers. Happ Hazzard   10 #94 Posted May 24, 2013 Why would they open bookies in wealthy areas? Most of the people there are at work all day and on their days off have better things to do than sit in a bookies office all day!
 Share this content via...
