boyfriday   21 #13 Posted May 22, 2013 Yes, it probably was. And in the 1930s, 1940s and later. It was still happening in the 1960s especially on Fridays when the hardworking housewives would be cleaning and polishing and making their homes into "little palaces" ready for the weekend. There was a great deal of pride and sense of community in areas such as Darnall. What a shame it's been taken over by people who show so little domestic care and pride, but would rather flaunt their bling and their flash cars.  What happened to the offspring of these 'hardworking housewives' who turned their homes into 'little palaces'? Don't they have pride in their surroundings?
 Share this content via...

boyfriday   21 #15 Posted May 22, 2013 Most of them probably moved on, moved out, bigger and better things and all that.  That's true, and probably pay cleaners, but what about the indigenous working class..are the houses all little palaces where they live? Mr Bloom   10 #16 Posted May 22, 2013 the issue is that if they are not doing anything illegal they cannot move them on, i recently spoke to the local councilor for the darnall area and these words came from him. i have lived in darnall my entire life and i now no longer visit my local area if i can help it ad definately not after 4.30pm! and it may get worse as there is 2 more betting shops planning to open up in this area, there are objections being out in to the council for this but not sure it will stop them  I thought Thatcher's Public Order Act gave the police the right to move any groups of two (?) or more on, without reason. Halibut   12 #18 Posted May 22, 2013 any else fed up with the gang of foreign men that hang outside William hill on darnall they are so arrogant and devious. I no that if a group of kids white or Asian stood out side shops in gangs intimidating people wouldn't last a day before police moved them along seems no cares any more who is let in to this country and wot they guna do once they get here  Really. Arrogant and devious. How does their deviousness manifest itself?
 Share this content via...

Chris_Sleeps   10 #24 Posted May 22, 2013 Aah yes, everyone forgets that Canadian community that there is in Sheffield. Throw some more in the mix. We can have a melting pot of hate and loathing.  A dwarf once stopped me going in Asda. I bet it was a group of dwarves. Foreign dwarves. Icelandic dwarves. I'm fuming. Next Icelandic dwarf I see - I'm going to bury a pickaxe in his skull. Little sod. Stopping me going in Asda.  Devious little fecker he was too. Grrr.
