Penistone999 Â Â 10 #770 Posted November 22, 2013 These people are coming here to TAKE TAKE TAKE, they offer nothing and aren't wanted. The apologists need to take their blinkers off. eastbank   10 #773 Posted November 22, 2013 I'm sure you'd agree with me that judging a whole ethnic group on the behavior of some of them is a thoroughly idiotic way to think.  the roma have not got a good track record....in which ever country they reside.....  ---------- Post added 22-11-2013 at 20:24 ----------  looks like the roma have been spotted begging in a village on the outskirts of sheffield...apparently they were not begging for long....the local neighbourhood watch moved them on... Kevo   10 #776 Posted November 22, 2013 francypants, I don't want to vilify or blame your family who remain in Page Hall, but as Ive said previously on this thread it wasn't a nice place to live even in the late 60s/early 70's when I was there. I hated the school (Owler Lane) the kids that went there and it was clear to me that we were living in very impoverished circumstances as many other people did, a move to Broomhall was regarded a step up the ladder.  Social development and progression is complicated, conservative (small 'c') thinkers are likely to be left behind in many areas of life, others like the indolent deserve to be where they are. I wouldn't want to live in Page Hall now, I wouldn't want to live in many other areas of Sheffield for similar reasons but the problems will rarely change, it's just the colour/religion or culture that does.   I have read a lot of your posts and kept my opinions to myself until now!!!! I was born and bread in the Grimesthorpe area and went to Owler lane High school which then became earl Marshall a lot of my family lived in the page hall area and for YOU to say it wasn't a nice area in the 60/70's is WELL OUT OF ORDER it was a lovely area to live and totally safe.So DO NOT MAKE stuff up and make out it's been like it is now in the 60's etc Because it wasn't And just for your info I have worked in the area all my working life on 24hr call etc so 60/70' was safe day and night. But last few years totally different.......HORRIBLE......
