More macabre, they don't put pockets in shrouds tha knows.

i thought this thread was for Sheffieldish phrasers, has it been changed to country wide phrasers?

These ARE Sheffield sayings, they were all said when I was a kid , I remember them well.

My Nan always used the word SHUNKLY to discribe something that glittered like sequines. Its a word that all of use in our family.

She also used to say that if someone was dawdling or walking slowly they were TRERKLING along. A nice discriptive word but dont know if its a proper word.

 

MY Mom always used these terms and I sometimes use them myself but it's very rare I hear anyone else use them .

my apologise, i though the thread wanted local sayings not english one's. Things like cecks and clewers and going across the yard. Not national one's with a local accent.

But you know best.
