To be honest I didn't even know Rag men had trumpets ! The only one I can remember walked around pulling a small cart shouting "Donkey stone for rags oh"....

We still use "Sen" in place of self has in "Shack thi sen".

 

Poshed........Punched. Which I think has it's roots in the old three legged "Posh" a wooden stool on a stick, an early form of hand powered washing machine..

 

Wasn't Dolly posh left handed ?

 

Hammered....very drunk or take an Hammering ....badly beaten (physically or sportingly)
