23.04.13 - Smithywood 2-0 Sheffield Forum

Recommended Posts

Sheffield Forum left their final game disappointed as their poor form continued. A few changes were made as the injured Robbie Loving returned but played in goal meaning Adam Smith moved up front in place of another injured player, top scorer Daniel Sheedy. Other players were still carrying knocks following the Sheffield Titans game but we pulled through to get this game out of the way. Jordan Gladwin was on the bench unable to play a full game and Liam Wales was moved out of position to centre midfield.

It wasn't a pleasant game game by all accounts but Forum looked safe with Aaron Whiteley playing only his second game of the season. Adam Smith launched a good effort on the Smithywood keeper only for him to palm it away. Forum though went behind when neither side really deserved it.

A mix up between the keeper and left back saw Smithy forward break away before being pulled down by the keeper Robbie Loving. Luckily the player was heading away from goal meaning no red card from the referee. But from the free kick, Smithywood took the lead getting on the cross.

It was a disappointing half from Forum who applied some pressure but failed to really create any chances. Liam Wales lashed a Ronaldo-style free kick just wide of the upright.

HT: Smithywood 1-0 Sheffield Forum

Not much to report from the second half as both teams changed formations and was more end to end without the goal attempts. The one big incident came quite early in the half when Smithywood forward charge down a kick from Loving with his arm. The referee allowed the player to continue as he put the ball in the net for their second goal.

Two poor ways to concede for Forum with the second just showing the luck we have had in the final few games. Forum failed to find a break through and ended up with only their second game of the season where they failed to score.

We have a lot work to do next season now with certain key positions sought.

Team: Loving, Lynch, Coates, Whiteley, Jenkins, Wales, Gray, Proctor (Gladwin), Appleby (Baugh), Smith, Middlebrook
