Mister M   1,604 #79 Posted January 2, 2014 Do you have any comment to make with regard to the fact that she was corrupt? As PM she signed the largest arms deal ever negotiated by this country, £468 Billion with Saudi Arabia.  Her son Mark Thatcher received £12 Million in 'commission' on the deal. Any thoughts as to how that came about?  Mark 'convicted criminal' Thatcher was never known for his intellectual capacity, being known as 'Thicko Thatcher' at Harrow, where he managed to pass 3 O levels. He also managed to fail his accountancy exams on three separate occasions.  This following an extremely expensive private education in one of the most prestigious schools in the world.  What was it do you think that he brought to the negotiations which justified such an enormous 'commission'?  I blame the parents
 Share this content via...

charmer   10 #81 Posted January 2, 2014 Thatcher deserved a state funeral.  As a whole she did well for the country. If you compare that state Britain was in when she came to power in 1979 and to when she left in 1990 there is a massive improvement.  I will find links if I really have to.  We were considered the sick man of europe when she took over, with inflation at 22%.  She took over Britain and the world recession of the early 80s hit/ It was the perfect storm.  Although communities were destroyed by er closures and privitisations, this can't be blamed solely on Thatcher. The mining industry declined more sharply under Wilson and Callaghan than under Thatcher. Thatcher put less miners out of work than Callaghan and Wilson did.  The coal industry had higher output under Thatcher than under Callaghan and Wilson  The whole as a whole benefited massively under her tenure. By early 1983, inflation had fallen to 4.5% (from 22%)  GDP rose more 23% and the average wage by 25%.  She did far more roght than wrong in my opinion and deserved a good funeral
 Share this content via...

If those figures are true. Then a lot of business was generated for this country, providing a lot of jobs paying taxes and supporting the economy, hospitals, police, firemen and the feckless
 Share this content via...
