Which song most captures the spirit of the Thatcher era?

many excellent suggestions so far - here are mine...

Panic by The Smiths - DJ=PM

Up Here in the North of England by The Icicle Works

Singing Rule Britannia (While the Walls Close In...) by The Chameleons

Get Back to Russia by Easterhouse

Heartland by The The

Tramp the Dirt Down by Elvis Costello

Two good links there, Parvo. Thanks for sharing.

Not a song, but didn't want to create another thread just for comic links, as there was also some great comedy to come out of those dark times

Actually, there was a similar one by Smith and Jones, which was even better, I can vaguely remember a part-time job at the Spud U Like in Arbroath, or something like that!

For me it would be FYC's 'Blue'.

The lyrics hit the spot although the catchy pop electric ryhthms disguise the deeply emotional mood captured.

I too am concerned at the moderation of fair and balanced posts expressing a dislike for Thatcher's legacy and time in Office.

This should be allowed as should those who would express a positive view of her; hence fair and balanced, without distorted censorship.

Finally, there is a gamut of anti-Thatcher songs as there is an over whelming anti-Thatcher response on social media sites right now.

SF should reflect this.

Not very original - but another vote for Ghost Town.
