I have been coming increasingly annoyed with the lack of performance gained from this old laptop.

Basic specifications are...

Dell Inspiron 1545

Intel® Pentium® Dual CPU T3400 @ 2.16GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.2GHz

3 GB Installed RAM

The wireless card inside is faulty or not installed properly and the keyboard I think was replaced due to a spillage, some days it runs fine while others it sticks and fails to load webpages and videos correctly meaning watching HD will never run smoothly if run at all.

This meaning I have had to use a separate TP-Link USB wireless adapter to access the internet, would prefer to have the built in card upgraded to wireless N and use that as have read lots of reviews that built in wireless cards run far more cooler and efficient than USB devices.

From using the scanner feature on Crucial Memory website it can take up to 8 GB RAM but for now would like to at least put 4 GB inside so I can put 64-bit Windows 7 on it.

Would even consider a faster hard drive but I have to work with what I have without breaking the bank and pointless upgrades if things are really that knackered. The laptop heats up a lot and sometimes degrades what I need to do, even webpages and desktop have a delay like when I press a button or use the mouse, it takes a few seconds for the machine and the connection to catch up.

So, would like the best most reliable specialist available who will take it off my hands for a day or 2 to strip it all out, clean it thoroughly and get it running sweet again so at least I will have a clean efficient machine in order to put the extra RAM in which am sure is what is required to play and display intensive visuals.

Worth the wait I'd say from all the positive feedback. Seems cheap as well.

Nowt as cheap as doing it yourself, and it's a very simple process. If this idiot can do it anyone can. :hihi:

I know if my laptop goes belly up I will ask my sister (she is at Sheffield uni) to drop it in and let MoZaLan have a look without any hesitation.
