juergen   10 #114 Posted April 5, 2014 the article is interesting, but i'm wondering why government communication hq uses net.framework technology (microsoft) and claims linux did not pass vpn and encryption, since this features are unix/linux standard since early beginnings ...  according to the report, unix / linux (ubuntu distribution) does not fulfill requirements ... because its implementation/software has yet to be independently assessed by an approved CESG body.unfortunally unix / linux is used in most server environments due to his high security standards (which depends on an good system administrator and other factors) and with a few byte(s) of magic you do the vpn and encryption trick also . Here is another interesting security related article from nsa: w w.nsa.gov/research/selinux/
 Share this content via...

swarfendor437 Â Â 14 #117 Posted June 28, 2014 The only downside is the Dark and Blue Themes - nice to begin with but then problems pursue and based on issues in Ubuntu I think this is purely down to Gnome 3 :-( Â That said, good things to install are: Â gnome-color-chooser (yes I know colour has a 'u' in it but like most things, software is built for the US market!) Gtk-ChTheme - I have Redmond and Tropic Window decoration. I am waiting for the Final release - still enjoying Pear 5 modified with Cairo-Dock! ccit   10 #118 Posted June 29, 2014 (edited) Slightly off topic from the new release of Zorin is a laptop with Ubuntu pre installed. Found it here on eBuyer. Fed up with Windows? Had enough of Apple? Grab yourself a slice of history with this HP laptop. The first manufacturer installed Ubuntu machine available from a UK retailer.  Linux  PC enthusiasts have long clamoured for a Linux based machine and HP and Ebuyer.com have responded with the HP 255 G1. Ubuntu is an open source operating system which delivers reliability, innovation and all the software and applications you need for personal or business use.  Laptops already installed with a Linux distro are quite rare and I reckon that this one is a bargain at £219.99p. swarfendor437 Â Â 14 #119 Posted July 1, 2014 I always thought Dell was the first one to do this? And more recently their swish XPS 17" notebook for Ubuntu Devs. Â If I had the money I would probably buy one and then put LXLE 14.04 on it! Â Which is what I am now running as I screwed up my Pear 5 install - hey ho! Â Actually no, if it has an Intel Processor and 64-bit I would put OzDiamond B-II 64-bit on it! AlexAtkin   10 #120 Posted July 1, 2014 You are right, this is DEFINITELY not a first. I think they are were playing on the fact they are the first UK company to do it, not the first company to do it "in the UK".
 Share this content via...
