Total Chaos   10 #13 Posted March 27, 2013 For a while now we have had ants but disappeared for a bit when we used powder but I can no longer use powder due to having toddler twins and a dog!! I need pest control to come and possibly sort this for me.. Anyone recommend a good pest control? Also how much would it be ?  Use baits,as sprays and powders make them scatter. StuartB   10 #14 Posted March 27, 2013 Pharoah ants are a far bigger problem than garden ants and have to be treated with pesticides only available to professionals  Sheffield Council do a service for £174 as per their website : https://www.sheffield.gov.uk/environment/environmental-health/pest-control/domestic.html  If there are only a few, you could use sticky pads from garden centres
 Share this content via...

Chris_B_1983 Â Â 10 #16 Posted March 27, 2013 I had the same problem last year, and borrowed an anteater from a local guy. It did the trick, sniffing out every last ant with it's sensitive snout, but beware; they don't take kindly to cats. At all. Scrapman_Sid   10 #17 Posted March 27, 2013 I had some of these in my van the other day, crawling all over a wheelchair, I had to use some ant repellent spray and thankfully I have not seen them since.
 Share this content via...
magick777 Â Â 10 #18 Posted March 28, 2013 Like most pests they're only there for food. Remove the food, remove the pest. Sorry if that sounds a bit blunt but it's true, poisons and traps only remove the problem temporarily. You need to block if you can where they are entering and try to remove any small crumbs that naturally collect under cupboards, fridges, cookers etc. Call it "spring cleaning" if the weather allows you to imagine it really being spring.
