andrea1   10 #13 Posted April 1, 2008 Does anyone know, just a rough idea of how much a loft conversion is. It's not a massive space. I don't want an exact figure just an idea of what I'd be looking at? Many thanks  If it's going to be a bed room you definately need planning(Fire doors Etc) No builder should give you quote until they can look at the plans that have been submitted. There is quite a lot of work So they would not be able to give you anything accurate. I know a company that do Loft conversions KP DESIGN & BUILD 0114 2338009. They would be happy to give you a quote when your plans have been drawn and submitted to planning. A good architect too use id Capital Design Studio and they can be contacted on 0114 2631118
 Share this content via...

Titian   10 #16 Posted April 2, 2008 Dormer or Velux requires planning  That depends where you live, only some parts of Sheffield require planning for windows. You related planning to fire protection, which isn't the case at all.
 Share this content via...
H.P   10 #17 Posted April 2, 2008 hi, if you are doing this for a bedroom it will have to be done to builing regs, and depending on weather you want a dormer or velux you may need planning permission, for a small loft you could be looking at anywhere from 8k upto 15k but without seeing the job its really hard to say. i would be happy to come and have a look and give you a quote  Bloody hell that's not bad, some of the quotes we had were silly to say the least.. the most expensive being 23k.. it's not a large loft either
 Share this content via...
Suave   10 #18 Posted July 17, 2011 I am interested in having a loft conversion done. I have the plans drawn and approved by the council and I am ready to go. I need a reliable and trustworthy specialist to commence work on this.  I may split the work - so would require either a full job doing or a shell price only - will decide once I have some estimates in:huh:  Recommendations please!  Please contact me if you need more information
 Share this content via...
skinz   10 #19 Posted July 17, 2011 Advice: Don't let anyone in your house unless you've seen their work. Don't accept estimates. And never hand over money before work commences. Any construction company worth their salt won't ask. Negotiate 10-20% to be withheld until you're 100% satisfied on completion.  Get a written specification/quotation, and more importantly read all of it not just the end (price) bit.  It's major constructional work, not changing a bulb. Check public liability.
 Share this content via...

carosio   186 #21 Posted February 29, 2012 A friend who lives in the Greystones area has just had a full loft conversion done on her bungalow (2 rooms and a bathroom), new stairs, full length dormer windows etc. I've watched the process from start to finish and I'm extremely impressed with the standards of workmanship and the professionalism of the whole project. Architect designed. Must be the best loft conversion firm in Sheffield.  Don't know the name of the firm but could ask.
 Share this content via...
