getupkids   10 #265 Posted December 5, 2006 I doubt they will be any closer to getting on tv/radio by getting friend requests on myspace?  Wouldn't it of been better for your friends, that you explain to us what this band is and what they play and to go have a listen to their music? AND maybe actually like it??  Or is their only goal to get on tv?  Strange world, we live in...
 Share this content via...

Funke88 Â Â 10 #267 Posted December 5, 2006 I just signed up. http://www.MySpace.com/GulfBreezeRealEstateAgent. My purpose is to network and to keep in touch with friends. However, I don't have any friends yet! Hoping to get my name out there in the real estate world and maybe get some new AVON customers. Â I had to lie to get in though. FYI: If you are over 40, you are too old!!!! Take 20 years off and it works. Last night I submitted my application 4 times. Changed my email address twice ( I have 4 of them) When nothing worked I Googled "MySpace + Ineligibility" Hit after hit came back and the basic thread was "AGE" Bloody hell, I must be ancient. So what are they going to do, ground me?
 Share this content via...

Nicholarse   10 #269 Posted December 14, 2006 Despite slagging it off as a terrible site I've eaten my words and signed up. I have a total of "0" friends. Bit like real life.  I much prefer blogs. There's something wrong about myspace. It does feel like an advert for yourself. Reducing the concept of friendship to a comodity. Feels wrong.  Go see my blog. Do one of them instead. If you do I'll link to it for as long as you keep it updated.  www.margerrisons.blogspot.com
 Share this content via...
Funke88   10 #270 Posted December 15, 2006 Thought I'd ask the sheffield forum to be my friend. Couldn't remember the URL so thinking well, it's in England so it should be here right?? http://www.myspace.co.uk/sheffieldforum  Who the hell is this? She may somebody's friend but not mine. Maybe she's a Sheffield forummer?? Didn't stay long enough to find out. <embarrassed>
 Share this content via...
donuticus   10 #271 Posted December 15, 2006 Am I the only person too busy living my life to have the time to share with a load of internet non-entities.  From the small amount of time ive spent flicking through myspace it seems to be full of extremely annoying people going on about how no one likes them.  Can someone explain the purpose of this site as it is completely lost on me. Guest   #272 Posted December 15, 2006 It's called being social.  My friends have pages, I have a page, that's all I really care about. It's not all about whinging kids moaning about how no-one likes them. I think a recent study suggested the biggest users were 25+ year olds. I'm also into music a lot and many of the bands I like have pages so it's a good way of finding out about stuff they're doing.  If you don't use the net for some of your social life then fair enough. But I do actually know most of the people I have listed as my friends and meet up quite regularly.
 Share this content via...
JBee   10 #273 Posted December 15, 2006 It was lost on me too for ages, but now I'm really addicted. To be honest though I use it mainly to email and show pictures to my friends, and my page is private so randoms trawling the net can't look at me. It's also really nice to find people who you've lost contact with over the years.  I totally agree with you though in that I don't understand the point in using it to 'collect' people ("friends") like some people do. Bands are okay, or particular celebs that you like ect, but there seem to be a lot of sad girls out there who post pictures of themselves semi naked, and many more sad blokes who send them comments, add them to their friends ect.  Sorry but I can't for the life of me figure out why any self respecting woman would want to put a piccie of herself in her underwear on a public website to be leered at by loads of random grubby unknowns. WTF???
 Share this content via...

WTF??? I would imagine most of those profiles are maintained by porn dealers, ultimately trying to get you to click through to some webcam or pay-site. PuressenceUK Â Â 10 #275 Posted December 15, 2006 It's for social networking. I use mine to talk to people who are fans of the same band, so when I go to strange cities to see them play live I can arrange to meet up with people for drinks etc. Â Great way to meet new folk.
