Pink2Bubble   10 #1 Posted March 3, 2013 (edited) Sheffield Forum came from 2 goals down to take all 3 points at home to Smithywood. Jason Bowden and Liam Wales were back in the starting line up and Ryan Lynch was named in the squad on his return. Zak and Corey Crownshaw were unavailable as was Nathan Jenkins and Phil Gill.  Sheffield Forum made a fairly decent start without really playing well as they had the better chances without testing the keeper but with just over 5 minutes on the clock, Smithywood took the lead. The ball bounced around following a corner before it was finally slotted into the corner.  Forum really struggled to get going, continuing in a similar fashion to the previous 2 games and Smithywood took advantage by adding a second goal leaving Forum in shock.  A formation change saw Forum with more attacking impetus and pulled one back just after the half hour mark. Eifion Griffiths floated a ball into the box towards Jason Bowden who was having his shirt pulled. The referee spotted this and duly gave a penalty, dispatched by Daniel Sheedy.  Five minutes remained on the half and with Forum well on top, they drew level. A corner was half cleared, knocked back in and eventually found its way to centre back Shaun Baugh to put away his first competitive Forum goal.  Change of mood at half time than was expected and Forum were now in the game and had the equaliser to wipe out the poor start.  HT: Sheffield Forum 2-2 Smithywood Utd  The second half saw Sheffield Forum on the attack early on and they took the lead through another rare scorer, Tom Gray. The ball was whipped in, touched by Baugh for Gray to scramble it home.  It was better from the home side who defended well and attacked with pace. It was this that led to the fourth goal as Liam Wales was sent running half the length of the pitch, touched it past the keeper only to be brought down inside the area. Sheedy again stepped up to score his second of the game and 20th of the season.  A fifth goal came when substitute Andy Coates floated a ball into the area for captain Shane Middlebrook to nod home.  It should have been 6 by then end of the game when another sub, Ryan Lynch cleverly went past his man to go through only to lash his shot well wide.  An improvement in performance after the first half hour but disappointed to give Smithywood a 2 goal start. Plus side is its a step in the right direction following the last few games.  FT: Sheffield Forum 5-2 Smithywood Utd  Next up is the one a few are looking forward to...Wyvern away at Gleadless Common on the 17th March.  Team: Smith, Appleby (Coates), Baugh, Bowden, Griffiths, Gray, Wales (Proctor), Neate (Lynch), Gladwin, Sheedy, Middlebrook. lettie01   10 #10 Posted April 1, 2013 Shiregreen like drawing games don't they, 6 draws out of 15 games is quite a lot for Sunday league level.  ye funny team them when we beat em they were better than us... but when they beat us we should have won about 9-2 honestly... funny how it pans out  ---------- Post added 02-04-2013 at 15:50 ----------  we always get a better turnout midweek! as most not out on lash!!  just been looking... chaucer play manor on sunday so if we were to get a result thursday (which we will ) a win against forum will as well as confirm promotion.. because manor an chaucer still have to play again meaning they cant both get the points.. so with only 4 games for us to play (after forum) will be more or less confirmed IF we can manage a win.. SO IMO FORUM IS A MASSIVE GAME :hihi:
 Share this content via...
