A person guilty of an offence under sections 4 (unnecessary suffering), 5 (mutilation), 6(1-2) (docking dogs' tails), 7 (poisoning), 8 (fighting) of the Animal Wlefare Act 2006 shall be liable on summary conviction to imprisonment up to 51 weeks or a fine up to £20,000 or both.

However, what they will actually receive is another matter.

The post suggested that the death of the animal in question was a thing to be praised.

The abusers should be imprisioned to the fullest extent of the law, which sadly is not nearly enough in my view.

I couldnt agree with you more. I dont think the law goes far enough in this day and age.

I follow this on twitter perhaps you and others could lend your support. They are trying to raise awareness and get things changed regarding animal cruelty in this country

Signed the petition. I think the governments response smacks of "can't be bothered" IMO.

I would personal escort them to the nearest police station.............. after giving them a little punishment myself.

But I don't know them so just have to hope someone else does the decent thing.

Also signed the petition :)

I actually thought the same. This isnt neglect, this is disturbed, evil behaviour. He needs locking up, as he (or she) will do it to a human being.

Thats exactly what it is,this person could be more than capable of doing something similar to a human next.Seriously hope they have been bragging about this, and whoever knows who it is tells the police.

Probably the same sick barsteward who posted the pic of an obviously dead staffie pup on the things for sale in Sheffield site. Facebook about two weeks ago. :-(

Do you remember the account what posted it? maybe the police could trace the computer?

A lot of reports suggest as such. I have no idea on statistics, but apparently research suggests that killers / serial killers have tortured / killed animals prior to human beings.

As horrible as this is, this article should be printed off and given to anyone wanting to backyard breed staffies and other dogs for the sake of earning a bit of money.

The less unwanted dogs that are so easily disposable, the less i would hope these things would happen.

R.I.P poor dog.
