Gearbox advice help needed

Hi av a rover 1-4 wen driving second gear wont go in to gear all other gears are ok do I need a new gearbox or a new clutch any advise would be grateful many thxs as I am not that clued up on cars

sounds like a new clutch, how long you had it and what mileage

also it could be a worn gearbox linkage worn

7000 miles a few weeks all gears are fine apart from second just makes a horrble noise

most likley the clutch with the mileage,take it to a garage, and let the have a listen

Was told ad new clutch in3 months ago clutch feels fine was ok when I try to go in second makes a grating noice

so you have just got the car car 3 months or so with a new clutch,cant you ask the previous owner were the clutch was fitted

madhatter 123 there you go take jbauto offer up, its usualy the head gasket on these that fail

Don't think it's Clutch. Not if it's going into other gears ok. Probably Synchro on 2nd gear. I'd be looking for a Recon or good secondhand gearbox.
