Dardandec   32 #25 Posted February 8, 2013 (edited) Building your own pc is not always a bad idea, I recently built one for a friend of mine.  Latest core i7 processor, 16gb ram, 1tb storage hard drive, 120gb solid state main hard drive, 1gb NVidia graphics card, Don't recall model now but was a pretty recent release, Mobo same again. sundries-case, 700watt psu, if I remember rightly, and a cooling fan that only just fitted in the case lol. Win 8 pro operating system, When it was £25  Cost £750 give or take a quid or two.  Best we could find online similar spec was £950, but only had 8gb ram and the graphics card wasn't as good.  Better warranty than a bought one too, two years mobo, 3 years processor, lifetime memory. terrorfirma   10 #30 Posted February 12, 2013 If you want the practice but don't want to waste a lot of money, why not try and pick up some second hand parts? There's always something half decent for sale, you may even get some freebies or some good advice along the way.
 Share this content via...
corsaman132 Â Â 10 #31 Posted February 12, 2013 To be honest, before you start shelling out wads of cash, buy a very cheap tower, strip it down, clean it and rebuild it,if you can do that a few times and it boots up after, start building your own. Don't forget,if you need any advice, this place should be your first port of call!
 Share this content via...
alankearn   10 #32 Posted February 12, 2013 Is there much point in building one when you can buy a ready built budget PC for £150? I always see these on ebuyer and think they seem great value  http://www.ebuyer.com/search?brand=Zoostorm&price=0+TO+300&cat=191  Can you beat this spec for the money for example?  I bought one of these about 12 months ago and installed Windows 7 on it, they are good value but don't forget there is no operating system installed. Unbuntu is a free operating system option
 Share this content via...
