Best garage for fixing electrical faults?

Recommended Posts

I took my car to Charlie Browns yesterday as my headlights weren't working (plus needed an oil change and new wing mirror). Was hoping it was just a case of them changing the bulbs or the fuse. However, it turns out its some kind of electrical fault which they don't specialise in fixing.

Please can anyone advise a good garage where I can get this sorted? And any idea how much this will cost to have fixed?? I know absolutely nothing about cars

I live in the s11 area so even better if its a garage not too far away

Thanks in advance

Try Graysons, just off the bottom of Woodseats Rd.

We are auto electrical specialists in the s9 area.

If it isnt the bulb you have lost a feed or earth, it could be anything from a fuse, broken wire or switch.

To lose both headlights its more than likely the switch on the column.

Apologies I misread, if both are out your most likely missing the feed to or from the switch as mentioned above

Did you get your car fixed?

The electrics have gone a bit dodgy on mine. If I took it to a franchised dealer it would cost over £300 for the part itself.

The problem is the lights don't work on sidelight setting only - but leave it on sidelight only for about half a minute and the dipped lights come on. Lots of Googling has led me to believe that the indicator and lighting stalk is 'shorting' at the bottom. I'd take it out myself and give it a clean and spray but you need to take the steering wheel off - which involves taking the airbag out.

Car is an 04 Picasso. Slight problem is that it has its MOT in two weeks and it will fail on this.

Iirc Picasso you can get the stalks off without removing the wheel?

The slightly older ones you can - the ones with the audio controls on the wheel. The ones with the audio controls on a stalk has the wipers, indicator/lights and audio all as one unit - or so my research has led me to believe. If the light and indicator stalk can be removed and refitted without removing the wheel then that would be good.

Sorry to hi-jack a thread.

My reverse lights have stopped working on my Peugeot 206.

I know absolutely nothing about cars, but have been told theres a switch that often goes in these cars?

I suppose what Im really asking is how much I can expect to pay for this to be sorted? (So I dont get ripped off!)

Thanks
