Motorists not being ripped off?

Recommended Posts

Well it is official, motorists are not being ripped off according to the OFT. So there is nothing wrong in hiking prices as soon as they can when oil goes up but taking a long time to lower them when oil prices drop.

The OFT seem to have actually said we are being ripped off, but not by the retailers.

The government however, they were less complimentary about.

The whole thing is laughable or it would be if it wasnt so serious.

They were obviously got at.If were told the fuel prices are going up because of the price of oil and it goes up but the tax percentage stays the same then who has driven the cost up?

It's a lie. It's total horsepoo. I've seen a graph showing oil prices and pump prices over the top. When oil goes up sharp, petrol goes up sharp. When oil drops sharply, petrol ambles down. I'm going to go as far as saying the people who did the survey were bought or threatened.

Found one. Note the gentle slope of a pump price when oil goes down sharply.

No, they said the market works correctly. However most of the price is made up of crude oil and tax therefore they were always going to come to this conclusion.

The government taxes it to high heaven because there is no alternative. Public transport is terrible and expensive.

They can' reduce tax now because they would have to raise some other tax to cover it and they can't cut costs because apparently according to SF this causes suicides and whatnot even though their have been no cuts in spending. It's all a load of baloney. Govt. spending is stable pretty much and will rise by 2015.

Actually prices rose to a peak in October -diesel was 142.9p a litre round here, and since then dropped by 7p to 135.9p a litre where it's been since before Xmas.

Funny how I don't see you or the media going on about this, yet if it goes up 1p its an OUTRAGE.
