[*]Abtisam Mohammed, BME Network

I'd not heard of these chaps before but a look at their website throws up come concern as to their addition to the list.

http://sbmen.co.uk/about-us/

What do we do?

Lobby, campaign and liaise with key institutions and agencies in the city on behalf of the Network, to challenge inequalities, contribute meaningfully to policies, strategies, research and to provide the platform for the BME VCF sector to play a part in creating a thriving and healthy BME and VCF sector in Sheffield for the 21st century.

Who is it for?

Membership is open to:

BME VCF organisations working predominantly for BME communities and run by BME management (Full Members)

BME individuals (Individual Members).

Volunteers or employees from VCF sector projects that work with BME communities (Associate Members).

Employees of statutory agencies who have a specific remit to support the ability of the BME VCF sector to network (Associate Members).

So a lobbying group with a racist membership policy that even the BNP was forced by the courts to get rid of are seen as suitable people to consult on "fairness" by the council.

Some people from poor backgrounds make loads of money, some people from wealthy backgrounds end up skint.

You are spot on, at least on this. The reason why your statement is important is that it is the exception, not the rule. the reality is that people from poor backgrounds generally stay poor and only occasionally make loads of money and that people from wealthy backgrounds generally stay wealthy and pass that wealth on the children who get lucky being born to them.

This is the cover story in the Sheffield Star; there is a picture of Ecclesall road looking all nice, and in stark contrast there is another picture of a street in Burngreave looking a bit shabby, the inference being that Burngreave is really hard done by while Ecclesall is looked after.

It is the locals of those two localities that make them what they are.

Sheffield should concentrate on being a fair city for all the people born and bred in Sheffield. It is our city.:):)

Oh, don't talk such utter tosh!

I wasn't "born and bred in Sheffield", but I've been paying my Council Tax, and was quite heavily involved in local community matters for years, for the past 28 years.

And I know plenty of people who weren't born here, but have chosen to live here, and they've also contributed to the city.

We're just as entitled to benefit from "fairness" in Sheffield as the people who, by sheer accident of birth, are Sheffielders.

Wonder how much it cost to produce this report?

Enough to keep some Lesuire centres open for a couple more years

They (SCC) also want Sheffield to be a 'great place to grow old'. It's a great way for SCC employees to keep their jobs whilst squandering either Government or EU money left right and centre on half baked schemes.

It drives me bonkers because there is some money which could make quite a difference to many people if only it was used properly.

It's not my fault that you are skint. I have lots of money because I made the correct decisions.:):)

Explain please why you gave up all your time to write that out.

It's called 'bringing something to the discussion'. As a not very intelligent, repeat ID racist troll, you don't understand the value of such things

The statement from the Council is just that a statement.

If the previous load of so called socialists who made the same statements in the 60's and 70's are any thing to go by then it is all a load of cobblers as they nearly all ended up feathering their own nests .

Mind you it got them the votes needed to do it.
