locksmiths1   10 #13 Posted January 19, 2013 The only one I'd be happy installing is the supra c500 as this is approved by insurance company's and meets the requirments of the police security initiative, Secure by design.  http://www.keysafe.co.uk/police_approved_supra_c500_keysafe_002049  Avalable from h Harold's for around £50  Andy
 Share this content via...
Plain Talker   11 #14 Posted January 19, 2013 rather than have a key outside, would something like these be more suitable?  It's a digital lock, and you have to enter a code to get access.  http://www.codelocks.co.uk/products/view/cl600_panic_access_kit  There's no key to worry about, and the code can be given only to those who are authorised to be in the property... modforlife   10 #17 Posted January 20, 2013 I'd go for a cheap one. A burglar will find an easier way in than breaking a key safe from the wall then smashing it open.  I think if you did you'd find your house insurance would be invalid if it didn't meet their specified standards. bus man   10 #18 Posted January 20, 2013 NOTE  If you are able to do so get one of the slighly more expensive ones where everything is hinged, the cheaper ones you have to take the weather cover off , find some where to put it , put the code in the front comes off you then have to find somewhere to put it while you get the key out. You then need to put everything back. The hinged versions just open so its easier.  Have you asked if the council can provide and or fit one they did ours, we found the price very reasonable and the fitting was excellent
 Share this content via...
andysm   18 #19 Posted January 20, 2013 The fingerprint and scratch resistance is so that no-one can see which buttons you are pressing to open the key safe. If there are visible fingerprints around the numbers 1, 2, 3 and 4 then the thief knows what the numbers are and just needs to try a few permutations. Printer   10 #22 Posted January 20, 2013 Sheffield council provide and fit key locks, for a charge. It is the same office that organise city wide alarms, if you mum, or anyone's vulnerable family and friends, do not have a city wide alarm please look into getting one. They save lives! If a fit and health person falls they can easily get up of the floor, but if pan elderly/less able bodied person falls they cannot, particularly if they sustain an injury.  https://www.sheffield.gov.uk/caresupport/adult/our-services/citywidealarm.html
 Share this content via...
cazza   10 #23 Posted January 20, 2013 City wide alarms is a good service to have well worth the cost at around twenty pound per month for peace of mind.
 Share this content via...
