Nick43   10 #13 Posted January 14, 2013 Its worth keeping an eye on Sheffield city councils twitter page, can`t post links yet unfortunately, but if you google sheffield city council twitter, its easily found  In the past they have been quite good at updating on school closures
 Share this content via...
bobgirlsnake   10 #14 Posted January 14, 2013 Bonkers! its only abit of snow, my children only missed one day of school when we had the really heavy snow fall and that was because the school was closed. set off a little earlier and walk no problems at all. jowster   10 #15 Posted January 14, 2013 Agree with SuperHans - want my children home safe and the teachers, many who travel a fair distance to work home safe as well. rather have them miss a few hours at school than to lose a few children and adults in car accidents.  More gritting would be appreciated though !!! gnvqsos   10 #16 Posted January 14, 2013 That might be problematic though, if people have already booked family holidays, not wanting their children to miss schooldays. Perhaps they could stay until 8pm a couple of nights instead. The school would have to provide their tea of course.  Do many go away in mid February-I suppose a few in S7 will go to the Alps or the like? nickyx   10 #19 Posted January 14, 2013 Unfortunately with A Special school we are mostly Transport dependant as that is what is required...Also mostly our kids are miles away in whatever specialist school they attend. And they are shutting because thats what Transport have decided for safety . So for us its not a case of set off early and walk...which i shall be doing for my others as usual. jowster   10 #21 Posted January 14, 2013 tell me how its safer to drive to collect your kids at 1pm than it is at 3pm please.  I don't drive to pick my kids up at all, i walk. but the schools have to think about the teachers and the staff as well who may live miles away from the school and have no alternative but to drive.  They also have to weigh up what is happening from hour to hour, it's stopped snowing where I am now, but they have to watch the weather to make sure that all pupils and staff are able to get home safe. Guest makapaka   #22 Posted January 14, 2013 tell me how its safer to drive to collect your kids at 1pm than it is at 3pm please.  Maybe because there might be more snow at 3pm??  Not rocket science is it?
 Share this content via...

nickyx   10 #24 Posted January 14, 2013 tell me how its safer to drive to collect your kids at 1pm than it is at 3pm please. Personaly no idea ...But thats what sheffield council transport have decided...Suppose it has to do with risk assesments as some kids have mobility probs etc.As our are dropped off at home ..they have to take minor rds and side rds on estates into account. Either way kids wont be happy as routine will be upset .
 Share this content via...
