The changing face of Chapeltown

Recommended Posts

A fourth vape shop is due to open soon in Chapeltown

Should this type of use be subject to stronger planning regulations (like book makers) given the addictive nature of their products?

Only the other day there were calls by MP's to allow vaping on buses (I really hope not!).

So I guess the answer to that question is a big no.

From exposed magazine

Stancill Brewery and BLG Property LTD have applied to turn the old HSBC building in Chapeltown into a restaurant and bar.

I worked there when it was Midland Bank!

I worked at Chapeltown garage in the mid seventies and northern homes were still building in the area ,at the time it was a nice place to work, but not as busy as it is now.

Chapeltown's 'shopping' offer now largely consists of estate agents, vape shops and hair/beauty salons

What else would run there? Everyone goes to supermarkets or online coz it’s cheaper so not many businesses are viable apart from ones that can’t be run online.

If you worked for Chapeltown Garage you might remember Mr Harper, first name fails me, he looked after my cars after he left and got married.

Woohoo! The Chapeltown Tap House & Gin bar is starting to look good in the railway arch, cant wait for it to open. The chinese next door has smartened itself up and with a Costa coffee opening and the old HSBC being renovated into a decent pub/eatery Chapeltown seems to be on the up!

Anyone know what days the market is on? Is it any good?

It's just on a Friday now and it's not worth a visit.

Thanks- it looked nice then. I wonder who decided to move the front of the shop to the side of the shop and brick the front up
