Hi does anyone know what The Royal Oak is going to be ? there seems to be a lot of building work happening .

 

Must be renovations to open up as a pub again.

 

No planning permission has been filed for any major changes.

The Royal Oak now has shop for rent signs up. I have spoke to the builders today and they have informed me that it is being converted into two shops, a restaurant and a flat.

Hopefully not another Kebab joint, don't need anymore on that street.

 

It's a tough spot to run a restaurant from, lots of people go to the Wetherspoon a few doors down, reducing the number of customers for a restaurant.

Surely market forces will dictate what the shops will become? Anything is better than shops sitting there empty for years on end.

 

Some odd folk on here, would rather have empty shops than people renting them out.

There's two or more a stones throw away from there, you'd have to be pretty brave to try open a new one up there.
