Italian restaurant

Recommended Posts

We regularly go to Picollos and have never had an issue with either the food or the service.

I'll qualify that though.....we've also usually had a gallon of Jaipur beforehand. :hihi:

Portofino at Heeley

I agree - not the best decor but the food's fantastic and they do an aubergine pasta dish that's absolutely gorgeous (and I'm not veggie)...

Portofino London Road.

Have to fourth this - really good, yummy, restaurant!

If you want to splash out then Marco's is excellent but for good value and tasty food then both Kito's on Woodseats and The Italian kitchen on Ecclesall Road are smashing. You can also get great deals for the Italian Kitchen on Groupon, Wowcher and Latedeals well worth a look.

As has been said multiple times on here already Portofino on Chesterfield Road is definitely worth a look, maybe a bit out of the way perhaps but in my opinion worth it entirely. A very good friend of mine who is Italian and who first introduced me to the place swears by it and I can very happily recommend the pizzas!

Expensive- Marco @ Milano's

Mid range- Maranellos

Cheap - BB's

All decent, but you do get what you pay for imo.

I'll throw in another recommendation for Marcos. If you're on a budget then they do a fixed price sample menu Tuesdays-Fridays at £17.50 for two courses (or £23.50 for 3). If I were to be going tonight I would probably go for the spicy chicken livers with crispy shallots followed by the rabbit with garlic, rosemary, chilli, green olives white wine served with parmesan & thyme polenta washed down with a bottle or three of Briccotondo Barbera. Nom nom.
