Very expensive for what it is.

Although the Nabi 2 has a 7" screen the specs are the same as the AT300 and half the price.

But for a 5 year old I want something easy and he can get around the iPad easy enough.

My 4yr old and 8yr old both have ipad 3's, easy to work and plenty of free games in the app store.

I would recommend an ipad.

I'm still kicking myself for missing the Samsung cash back as I would have gone for that without thinking.

Now I'm thinking for £296 am I best with a iPad 2?

Tablet for a five year old?? It sounds foolhardy to me.

What happens when they leave it on the floor and step on it?

We bought ours from John Lewis with extra 2yrs accidental cover for £75 just in case and to be honest my 4yr old is supervised when she is using it.

I wondered how long before the tablet for 5 year old came along.

I've bought innotab and leap pad and both have been spent well over the region of 400 on apps and games, I would have been better with iPad to start with the free apps and low cost apps (compared to leap pad)

We want a video player so that movies can be watched for example on a plane, train, car, without adding extra DVD player

Insurance is also a good thing, I get free insurance on iPad so any accidental damage is covered, but it also teaches him to look after his property. He hasn't left his leap pad, DVD player or my tablet on the floor.

We bought ours from John Lewis due to the 2yr accidental cover available if you pay £75 extra.

An Ipad 2 would be suitable.

I get cover for all devices with my bank account, including accidental damage.

I might see if John Lewis will price match the £296 for iPad 2.

Get an iPad 3 for another £20 direct from Apple.

Don't worry about it being a refurb - apple refurbs have new outer shell, new battery and full 12 month warranty. They are effectively brand new.
