Wheelie Bin Cleaner MegaThread

Recommended Posts

Come home following neighbour's having Mr Whoosh clean out their bins to the smelly mess being tipped out literally on the road outside our house. We live in the turning circle of a cul de sac and I'm going to have to go out and hose and sweep the road so my children can play out. A few neighbours have commented on the mess and smell because it's just dumped on the road.

Annoying thing is, there is a drain a couple of feet away which they haven't bothered to use.

Utterly appalling service.

All you need is a bucket of hot soapy water and a long handled brush. I do ours once a month.

I used to have mine cleaned in S20 until a dog poop bag split and a bit was stuck in the bottom of the bin and the cleaner told the whole street and said he couldn't clean it, so after a few choice words I cancelled and now do it myself, disposable gloves hope pipe and bleach, takes 2 minutes. I found out he was also charging private estates 50p more than council estates!

2x piping hot buckets of water

1x bottle Jeyes fluid

1x old broom/brush (long handled)

Method:

Open bin, pour in the 2 buckets of hot water, then the Jeyes Fluid.

Mix together with the broom, working the water up the sides and working the broom into the base of the bin.

Leave the mixture in the bin for 1 hour with the lid closed.

After 1 hour, open bin and wash sides again and base.

Pour out the water into drain and thoroughly rinse with cold fresh water.

Leave bin upside down to drain and dry out.

Thats how I do ours every 2/3 months.

Works a treat.

Your post together with your avatar just gave me the biggest giggle so far today!

I suddenly got this picture in my mind of a little dog having done what comes naturally and then asking for help to clear up the mess...

... Sorry for that, carry on everyone :D
