Good Pub or Restaurant For Family Meal

Recommended Posts

I'm wanting to take out the family for a meal tomorrow lunch time, don't want to travel too far from Sheffield.

Prefer old fashioned type pubs (wont even consider any of the chains).

I had thought of going to Silversmiths but it doesn't look like it opens at lunchtime.

Any similar recommendations would be welcome.

The Barrel at Breton is great but a good 30mins drive, depending on where in Sheffield you are. Lovely food, real fire, great location.

A late reply for next time you want to go out!

In Town

Rutland Arms http://rutlandarmspeople.co.uk/w/doku.php

Wig and Pen http://www.the-wigandpen.co.uk/

Or

The Broadfield http://www.thebroadfield.co.uk/ on Abbeydale road

All these serve fab food and are independents :)

I'd recommend the Forum on division street. I often eat in there at dinner and think its excellent.

Agree with these and would add the milestone & thyme cafe to the list. Thyme isn't a pub but is good for family gatherings with solid cooking.

Hi

The Old Horns at Bradfield is fab, they do 2 for £5 and its excellent, the menu is very extensive and they have a great specials board lovely surroundings and staff are really nice,

I had a mixed grill, for £9, 2 lamb chops, rump steak, pork steak, gammon steak, sausage, black pudding, peas and a perfect fried egg, it was cooked to perfection and served with HOME MADE proper scrummy chips.

Jenny
