Glennis   15 #50 Posted September 28, 2012 It looks as though the Vice Chancellor is trying to rope in some of his cronies to support the demolition project. Could it be that the University is getting anxious? With The Victorian Society and the Hallam Historic Buildings Society lined up against them, along with a lot of opposition expressed in the press, they are right to be worried. I understand they intend to submit the planning application in August, timed to minimise internal oposition within the University. We will have to make sure they dont sneak it in under the radar.......  Yes, that sounds like the VC alright! Birds   10 #51 Posted September 28, 2012 Says who? Why should this total anachronism of an organisation have any say in the future development of the city?  Why is the Cutlers company anachronistic?
 Share this content via...

iron sky   10 #53 Posted September 28, 2012 Sheffield needs to retain its old buildings regardless of its era. Far to much has been torn down and been replaced with glass and steel buildings that in years to come will be seen as eyesores and mistakes. This is another example of this if it goes nodoubt people in years to come will say what a shame its gone. But to late then. Wardsbitter   10 #54 Posted December 7, 2012 Opposition to the University Of Sheffield's proposal to demolish the Grade 2 listed Edwardian Wing of Jessops is snowballing. LeMaquis   10 #58 Posted December 11, 2012 The plans are backed by Angela Smith MP and the Chamber of Commerce. The planning meeting is next week.  What has it to do with Smith? It's not in her constituency. It would be a shame to lose such a beautiful piece of old architecture even though it's been left to rot for years. I'm talking about Jessop's, not Smith.
