16.12.12 - Sheffield Forum 6-1 Rose House

Recommended Posts

Sheffield Forum saw off bottom side Rose House with ease in a game that could have seen Forum reach double figures on the scoreboard. Liam Wales and Jordan Gladwin were both struck by a virus so they missed out, Jason Bowden returned and started as did Joe Neate. Phil Gill also missed out as he expects his first child.

Sheffield Forum came fast out of the blocks in their final game of 2012 at home on Herdings Park. Within the first 5 minutes, Jason Bowden twice squandered chances to put Forum in front. His first effort was saved well by the keeper whilst the second took a wicked bounce off the surface leaving his swing wild at the ball.

Just minutes later Forum did take the lead through top scorer Daniel Sheedy. His first shot was well saved by the keeper but Sheedy got to the rebound to poke the ball over the line.

10 minutes later saw the lead doubled. Nathan Jenkins throw came back to him allowing him to cross but nobody got on the end of it. The clearance though only went as far as the edge of the area and Jason Bowden finally hit a shot that found the back of the net for 2-0.

Forum continued to apply pressure and Shane Middlebrook should have made it 3. He beat Rose Houses high back line to race clear but his strike came back off the base of the post.

More chances were not taken as the 2 goal half time lead should have been a lot more.

HT: Sheffield Forum 2-0 Rose House

Forum continued where they left off and Middlebrook again broke free to go one on one with the keeper but yet again hit the base of the other post.

They continued to push and made it 3 when Daniel Sheedy gained possession and beat 2 defenders to go up against the keeper. Sheedy cleverly rounded the keeper and managed to stay on his feet after being clipped and put the ball in from an angle for his 16th of the season.

Rose House started pushing further up and managed to get a goal back with probably their best move being finished by the player coming in from their left to hit a fine strike past Adam Smith in goal.

The revival didn't last long though as Middlebrook finally scored despite the defenders best effort. His shot beat the keeper but the defenders sliding save on the goal line only saw the ball bounce in off him via the post.

Half hour into the second half Forum made it 5. Jason Bowden made a forward run before playing Ashley Proctor down the left and his cross was met emphatically by Middlebrook for his second of the game.

One more was added but there should have been more between all the goals but Forum will settle for 6. Bowden this time down the right cross the ball finding Proctor on the edge of the area. He took a touch before finishing into the top left corner of the goal to complete the win.

Forum today finished much better than the previous week but still could have been a higher scoreline. Main thing is 3 more points in the bag to move Forum up to second as other games were called off.

That's us done for matches this calendar year with a return to competitive action 13th January against Noahs Ark or Wheel Athletic. This game is played on the 6th. January is a big month with games against Chaucer and Wyvern also to be played.

Team: Smith, Z Crownshaw, Griffiths, Baugh, Jenkins, J Bowden, Neate (Coates), C Crownshaw, Gray (Proctor), Sheedy, Middlebrook
