Can anyonewho has been for an ATOS interview help?

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the information,my son has been sending docters notes in,he sent one in last week for another 2 month and he has to go to hospital once a week and waiting to see a Consultant at end of August. So can ATOS over rule our Doctors ?

I believe so, this stop your GP giving you sick notes, you have to go through ATOS, I was on jobseekers, first time in 47 years, I have a prolapsed disk, false leg causing probs and arthritis in my "good leg" I sent one sick note to the job center and within a week I was on my way for a medical with ATOS, taking my GP out of the equation.

Despite what the government says, we all know that ATOS are paid on results i.e. to get as many people off sickness benefit as they can.

The 'Medical' is not a true medical as you would expect, it is an exercise designed to ignore your ailments/disabilities and ensure you give positive answers to leading questions.

If you are suffering from any mental illness you are at at distinct disadvantage as you will no doubt not be in the right state of mind to cope with the session. If you showed that you did cope, this will be to your disadvantage as clearly you appear to be mentally fit. I understand that the govermenent are being challenged on this point in the courts.

You should also be aware that the session does not start as you enter the 'doctor/nurse's room, your behaviour may well be monitored and noted from when you enter the building through to when you get in/on your transport home, dependant on your illness.

I think more and more people are starting to see what atos are really about. If someone is providing sicknotes, whilst they are appealing an atos decission, they should be paid the assessment rate of ESA which is around £71. If you recieve dla, you may get some other top ups aswell. Being declared fit for work isn't the end, its just the beginning of a tough battle, that you can win, as long as you don't give in.

Yes, I was. Apparently the Highly-trained (!) medical professionals weren't qualified to deal with a neuro condition, and so I had to be given another appointment, with a doctor, for about a month later.

All the hassle was real pain in the neck.

You should have a look on the ATOS Miracles lots of useful advice and support for anyone facing this work capability test. You can insist on it being recorded as they will lie and twist things otherwise.

My appeal was a joke.......a doctor who told me I will 'get better' from a condition the specialists say I will have for life and a judge who told me I look good for 60!
