Seems Cav has ligament damage no broken bones.

The ligament damage also included a dislocated shoulder and there will be no point in him riding if he can't lean on that arm and use is to pull up on the handlebars. If he's going to continue he's going to need even better painkillers than they use normally.

Yep, on the French mountain phases the fans can be seen actually pushing the riders up the slopes.

The Grauniad is now reporting a crowd of 2 million.

They certainly do, there's always someone running along side shouting 'Allez' or in Yorkshire 'Gerrup' there Lad'.

The riders always expect big groups of spectators towards the summit of the climb.

Accounts from the riders have been great in respect to the effort the Villages and spectators have put in, they're loving it! :)

Why?

Don't you care about the boost to the local economy? Anyone with gumption sees this as an opportunity. Only saddoes see it as a problem.

Yeah but some of those scenes were a bit mental, they were down to just single file on two occasions and it made the riders pause when the main group arrived. There was plenty of room for the crowd to give a little more space but they were too enthusiastic. :P
