09.12.12 - Sheffield Titans 1-1 Sheffield Forum

Recommended Posts

Sheffield Titans snatched 2 points from Sheffield Forum with just minutes remaining. Forum were forced into changes as Robbie Loving was forced to miss out due to injury that could keep him missing rest of the season. Ryan Lynch, Joe Neate and Jason Bowden were other missing names from the starting 11 last time out, 3 weeks ago. Corker again sat out as Zak Crownshaw, Shaun Baugh, Nathan Jenkins and Liam Wales came back in along with a start for Phil Gill. New signing Jordan Gladwin was a substitute.

There was a strong diagonal wind at Winn Gardens as the game kicked off. Forum found their stride early on and should have been well in front. Liam Wales twice found himself behind the Titans defence only to hit just wide of the goal each time. Daniel Sheedy and Shane Middlebrook also had efforts saved, blocked and hit wide.

At the other end, Titans were limited to long range efforts but did hit the outside of the post with one strike.

Forum though gained the lead as good link up play led to Tom Gray finding himself out wide right hand side and he played in an excellent cross for Daniel Sheedy to tap over the line.

Forum went hunting more but it just wasn't happening in front of goal. Same could be said for Sheffield Titans who had less clear cut chances but again found their strikes generally heading away from goal.

HT: Sheffield Titans 0-1 Sheffield Forum

Half time saw the introduction of Jordan Gladwin and Ashley Proctor. Forum now heading more towards the wind battled forward and played a counter game due to the wind. Gladwin lashed a shot wide of goal as he linked up with Sheedy and Middlebrook going forward whilst Wales was a menace throughout the game on both sides of the pitch.

Forum defended well as Titans struggled to create with the wind generally taking their long balls out of play for a throw in.

Daniel Sheedy had 2 great chances to double the lead as first he ran through beating 2 defenders for pace but placed his shot inches wide. The second was made by a good Middlebrook cross from the right. His ball was met on the head by Sheedy but directed it straight at the keeper who managed to divert it to the bar. Either side and Forum would be 2 clear.

With 5 minutes to go, Titans finally struck as they got the ball down just outside the area and for probably the first time in the game, the player wasn't closed down and he managed to hit his short into the bottom right corner to salvage a point for Titans.

All in all, great shame that all 3 points couldn't be claimed as the performance was better than previously at Shiregreen 3 weeks ago but a game which was effected largely by weather conditions and a heavy pitch. Hopefully next weeks game will be ok with no more cancellations.
