Do you think society will get better or worse over the coming years?

Recommended Posts

Are we as a race spontaneously capable of evolving into better people and will it happen any time soon?

Human nature hasn't changed fundamentally in thousands of years.

I'm not expecting a radical shift any time soon.

as the tory boys continue to let fuel prices rocket

I'm not sure how they can stop a finite resource from becoming more finite the more it gets used up.

And the more scarce something becomes, the more expensive it gets.

That's why gold is more valuable than iron.

Do you see?

Tory boys , although they will not state it emphatically will think that it will improve society. I personally think it certainly will not.

You've never heard of the Fabian Society have you?

The Fabian Society is a British socialist organization whose purpose is to advance the principles of democratic socialism via gradualist and reformist, rather than revolutionary, means.

Today, the society functions primarily as a think tank and is one of 15 socialist societies affiliated with the Labour Party.

In the early 1900s Fabian Society members advocated the ideal of a scientifically planned society and supported eugenics by way of sterilization. This is credited to the passage of the Half-Caste Act, and its subsequent implementation in Australia, where children were systematically and forcibly removed from their parents, so that the British colonial regime could "protect" the Aborigine children from their parents. In an article published in The Guardian on 14 February 2008, (following the apology offered by Australian prime minister Kevin Rudd to the "stolen generations"), Geoffrey Robertson criticised Fabian socialists for providing the intellectual justification for the eugenics policy that led to the stolen generations scandal.

Looks like "Tory boys" were beaten to it.

WWW1 was used to "reduce the surplus population" by the tory boys.

Simple question (maybe not a simple answer): do you think society will get better or worse in our lifetime?

Are we as a race spontaneously capable of evolving into better people and will it happen any time soon?

So, better times on the horizon or are there some darker times ahead?

I'll tell you why I'm asking when I've had a few answers.

I think over the coming years society will get better and worse at different times until we get wiped out by an asteroid in a million years time.

The way I see it, is that the problem with a traditional conservative point of view wanting to hark back to the old days, avoids the fact that were are all better off.

When I was a child, an electronic toy was a highly prized possession, but now all the children I know over 10 can use the internet and have mobile phones. None of this was invented when I was young and what it represents is a massive advance in technology.

Another thing is that I grew up in a house with a single electic socket upstairs, no central heating, shower, car or even a telephone or TV when I was first born. Those things were expensive luxuries.

Nowadays if you don't have central heating that is considered abject poverty.

All these advances will continue and everyday people will continue to progress with their luxurious lifestyles, but because they are not billionaires, many will feel like they are poor. The attitude about instant gratification which is seen as a problem is nothing more than a symptom of us being one of the richest countries on the planet.

I have no doubt that this will continue long into the future. Spoilt people will continue to be selfish and and greedy, nothing will change.

This is why we need rich people to hoard money, because one day they will spend it to save themselves and keep the human race going.

A culture of expectation which the grossly over-generous welfare state has created.

Things are going to get much much worse for most people. You only have to look at what is happening now to see that.

We should confiscate all inherited wealth and use it for the common good. This will set the people with inherited wealth FREE to make their own way in life. In the end they would thank us for making men of them!!!:D

I think you confuse the first world war WW1 with a female wrestling show found on late night broadcasts ie WWW1

I thought I was the only British viewer.

Don't do it KARIS! There's so much to live for.

Am I the only one that can see this cry for help!

Quick go check this link -

I've posted that twice today now, hopefully it will help you as well.

Phew! I don't know what I'd have done if you hadn't posted this! Saved me... :)

I'm not sure humanity is capable of making any huge leap in development, and certainly, we'd need some kind of major catalyst.

Mind you, it's all moot as we're going to die in a few weeks anyway!
