Boiler/Heating Megathread - Advice & Recommendations, No Jobs/Quotes/Advertising

if you have replaced all the vessel and prv and checked the pipe leading to the expansion vessel is not blocked then you have one of two problems 1, there is a leak on your heating system. 2. you main heat exchanger has pin holed and is leaking down the condensate trap.

Cheers all. Hoping it is not the heat exchanger.

You can get a new A-rated boiler plus 10 years full cover including parts and labour for only £17 a month. Why people struggle on with old inefficient boilers that leave them with high gas bills every month plus massive expense every time they break down is beyond me.

Might be daft question but .... I have Worcester junior boiler in my static van and was wondering does it cause any damage/problems if the gas {bottled supply] runs out ? or does it simply turn off until supply is re-established .

IF there is dirt in the bottom. of the tank it could block the filter but other than that you should just re purge the gas before lighting.

Hi all,

The timer on my boiler is playing up (not keeping time) Here's a few photos of the innards.

Does that loose wire need to be connected? If so, where to? I can't see anywhere.

Any help appreciated, cheers.

EDIT -

It's a Heatline Monza 28 boiler with a mechanical timer. (push the white bits out to set times on/off)

The boiler works fine set permanently on or permanently off but when set to the middle setting (clock) the time is always out after a short time.

We've recently moved into a house that has a very old boiler with no thermostat. It's all been checked and is in really good condition. But I wondered if we would be able to have a thermostat (Maybe wireless??) fitted to it because it is either Off or Volcanic.

Hi

I got an idea l boiler goes to a honeywell st9400c. With pressurised tank .

I got hot water fine. When I press extra hour for hot water boiler fires up and fine.

I notice rads came on fine today at 5 pm but just now no heat at 8pm from rads. BOILER remains on zero.

ive tried reset and when I press over ride I can hear the valve spin down.

there's no resistance on one of the valves when I slide the spring. Im not sure if one for hot water and ones for the central heating
