richyg   10 #1489 Posted August 30, 2018 (edited) Afternoon all,  Just had Vaillant out to diagnose and replace a blocked heat exchange plate on my Vaillant Ecotec 831 boiler. They said it should be ok, but recommended I get a system flush (not included in protection plan).  Can anyone recommend someone?  Thanks,  Rich Edited August 30, 2018 by nikki-red
 Share this content via...
Stujo   10 #1490 Posted September 6, 2018 Recently had a boiler service and complex heating controls replaced with new hive system by Jon Bradley (JBradleybz) and have to say the service, price and efficiency of the job was fantastic. He comes highly recommended.
 Share this content via...
El Cid   220 #1491 Posted September 6, 2018 we are having our 7 year old gas boiler serviced soon what is the going rate for an independent job?  I paid £55 for a simple service, I have seen gas engineers advertising £60/£70; but I did see a van parked up on a main road in Leeds, advertising a service for £
 Share this content via...
Dave h-j   10 #1492 Posted September 24, 2018 Is Jon (JBradleybz) at JB Heating services still on the go? He's not posted for about a year and the website link on his old posts go nowhere  I was looking for a quote for a combi replacement for a valliant, seeing as he did a good job on my external expansion vessel about 5 years ago. Full Moon   10 #1496 Posted October 4, 2018 (edited) This started around my old boiler breakdown but can't remember before or after.  The noise seems doesn't connect to any use of water, like flushing toilet, using cold/hot water, or central heating is on/off. The noise appears at random times day and night even when water or central heating both not in use.  We’ve bleed all the radiators, switch the main water supply to lower lever. No change.  Anybody can explain this? I can't call a plumber in standing for hours to waiting for the noise coming up.  If lucky enough, it will settle down after sometime?  Or, any plumber here can fix it please send me a message with your plan and quote, please. One of the plumbers on here will sort you out!
 Share this content via...
Full Moon   10 #1498 Posted October 4, 2018 Thank you zaci. Thank you for your advice. I'll give it a try tonight.  ---------- Post added 05-10-2018 at 21:30 ----------  @zaci You are right. Turning off the main stop tap stopped the noise. Also,I seem lucky enough that the noise has getting weaker and not as often as before. A PRV installation maybe need if the noise getting louder again. Probably water hammer! When it next occurs turn off the main stop tap completely, if this stops the noise then that's the problem! boysheff   10 #1499 Posted October 19, 2018 I have two boilers, 1) for water & 2) for heating that are glow worm and need a service. any can quote me or advice best place to ring
 Share this content via...
Black Brick   10 #1500 Posted October 24, 2018 I had a Glow worm boiler and last year I was told that some of the parts were no longer available by the Homeserve gas specialist on its annual service. Ziggy from ZD Plumbing Heating has a few parts that kept mine going for another year but I have decided to get a new one for this winter as I'm not going to risk a week in the cold as it will probably break down when I need it although it has kept going for 18 years.
