Elmambo   25 #3 Posted November 29, 2012 Used to love the Berni Inns. I was a regular at the Old number 12, near the market. I remember being sent to Hull for a few months and living on Berni steaks and British Rail pasties - with occasional visits to Ronnie Hilton's restaurant for a bit of gammon or fish. Mmmm my mouth is watering now.
 Share this content via...

Derek Clayton   11 #6 Posted November 30, 2012 Think it was just called Berni Steak House. It was on Orchard St, corner of Orchard Place.  There also was a Bernie steak house in Norton opposite Brocklehurst Motors I think. The steaks were excellent. handypandy   14 #7 Posted November 30, 2012 Visited all the above ones but the Old Number 12 was the favourite. A good steak and chips followed by apple pie and ice cream and finish with a 'Calypso Coffee'
 Share this content via...
Ms Macbeth   75 #8 Posted November 30, 2012 We used to take the kids to the Berni Inn on Doncaster Market Place as an occasional treat. Steak and chips then black forest gateau. No prizes for guessing that was over 30 years ago! I wonder if anywhere still has bfg on the pudding menu?
 Share this content via...

A good steak and chips followed by apple pie and ice cream and finish with a 'Calypso Coffee'  I used to love going to the Old No 12, also liked the one at 4 Lane Ends, I remember once me mum took nan to the Old No 12 & after the meal they had an Irish coffee.  The waitress brought it, and nan said to mum "I don't like stout Joan".
