jonnyhonda   10 #13 Posted April 28, 2018 In the 70"s we used to hire it for our 6th form parties, we were all under the legal drinking age but that didn't seem to bother them and everyone got served. Magic times at that age. I also remember going there a few years later, visiting a few of the local pubs, was a bit scary but as long as you weren't being gobby the locals were quite friendly. After spending the taxi money on ale we always walked home to Chapeltown on the rail line, it was safer and seemed to be direct.  Remember those Ecclesfield School 6th form parties very well . Don't remember how I got home to High Green though ! Think my first one was when I was in the 5th form in 1974. Great days...... drolnhoj   15 #14 Posted April 28, 2018 Loved it. Used to go on a Friday night with my friends from Wath rugby club. Early 70's. They used to let us in for nothing when they got to know us. Oh what a night!
 Share this content via...

Ontarian1981 Â Â 10 #16 Posted April 30, 2018 Talking of Hoyland pubs, we used to go to one called The Turf in the mid-sixties. It was a big building with a big parking lot. I remember the parking lot well as we had a couple of battles outside with local lads on back to back Saturday nights. Before that though, we had some really good nights in there.
