willman   10 #25 Posted November 22, 2012 My family booked two for me on consecutive years and i booked a third myself -mine were prebooked as a surprise so they did have to make sure i wasn't predisposed on the days.
 Share this content via...
Tiberius   10 #26 Posted November 22, 2012 Thank you for the replies so far. I'm looking at perhaps a steam train or sailing trip. I know with Virgin Experiences, you buy the voucher and the recipient calls to make the booking on the time / date they want.  I just don't want to pay out loads of cash for something that's a total wash out!  Try these, based in North leicester/ loughborough http://www.gcrailway.co.uk/special-services/drive-a-loco/  Cant advise if it's any good, but looks alright. Strix   11 #27 Posted November 22, 2012 (edited) http://nvr.org.uk/events/britannia-driver-experience  Peterborough is an hour away, and you'd get to do it on a line featured in a James Bond film  If you didn't fancy hanging about, Queensgate shopping centre is only a couple of mins walk away, and isn't as overwhelming as meadowhell or the Trafford centre, or you could walk to the cathedral where Mary queen of Scots was buried Edited November 22, 2012 by Strix
 Share this content via...

smithy266 Â Â 21 #30 Posted November 22, 2012 Thinking back, my experience day was free! Whenever I saw one of those big dump trucks, I would tell my wife and kids just how much I would like to drive one! Mrs Smithy266 bless her, phoned all the places she could think of, eventually a dump site operator said I could go and play for a morning! Great fun, loading, driving, dumping, up hills, down hills, I had a superb morning! FREE!
 Share this content via...
Strix   11 #31 Posted November 23, 2012 Both look great, I just don't have the funds for either  didn't you say you were interested in a steam train thing? Were you just looking for a posh tea on board a historic train travelling through some beautiful countryside?
 Share this content via...
