I can see that would be worrying.

Not a lot of help to those coming up the hill then.;)

Or off one of the many side roads.

From the other direction: street lights and no other signs to indicate otherwise indicating 30mph.

The van isn't there, generally, more than a few hours so a notice on here is more than likely pointless for the few SF readers on here at any one time.

By contrast, the signs are there all the time.

Not sanctimonious nor holier than thou, just plain fact. Find a way to spot and respond early and proactively to the signs (any signs, road paint and road surfacing), the hazards (moving and fixed) and you won't need to know where the cameras are.

posted on here recently asking if i could be prosecuted after recieving a speeding ticket 6 weeks after the event as though nobody on here ever creeps above the limit

If you need to be an officer to point out the rudiments of hazard perception and the importance of actively seeking out information whilst behind the steering wheel, gawd help us.

And if the last time anyone did that was on the (useless) DSA hazard perception test, gawd help us again.

I'm not, by the way.

Re-reading my post, there may well be a suggestion within it that there once was a golden age of driver observational skills. This, of course, is a long way from the truth. Drivers have always fallen short on these. With the increasing reliability of cars (they start, they get you there with minimal effort from the driver, they stop) it could well be that this will only get worse when you add into the equation an apparent ignorance of or non-compliance with the rules of the road (let alone being proactive in reserving a bigger safety margin where appropriate). Bring on the cars that drive themselves.

What on earth are you blithering on about?

Is the speed camera van still there? I will be driving along that stretch later and plan to blatantly exceed the speed limit - but if the mobile speed camera van is there, I won't.
