rn.1985
Hello I'm 27, currently pregnant and going to be a single parent. I currently earn £21250 per year, maternity pay is not that great where I work I will only be getting SMP pay so approx £500 per month. I don't claim any sort of benefits now, I just wondered if anyone could help me and tell me what approx I could claim if any? This pregnancy is from a doner, therefore I won't be able to get support from the 'father' At advice would be great. Thanks
Leah-Lacie
You'll be able to claim tax credits I think. Theres a calculator on the website. Theres also a few different benefit calculators you can use to find out if you might be entitled to anything else, I'm not actually sure how maternity pay affects benefits. lauren84
With SMP you only have to declare anything over £100 as earnings therefore mine is £35 p/w. What I did was fill in the application with my last years P60 but then added a separate piece of paper calculating my exact earnings for this tax year,so the salary for the weeks to the date you leave for maternity, 6 weeks at 90% then the rest at £35 up until the time maternity finishes - I had 6 weeks left til the end of this years tax year with my full salary again. This way they will have your exact figure and you will get a little more Still have a look at the calculator online as that will let you know how much you will get once you are back working.....and dont forget to have a look at childcare as you can get some money to help with that
Ghozer
You will get FULL SMP for a certain period of your Leave, and then a lower for a few months, then lower again if you decide to take extended.. this is the standard law and your employer cannot differ from this (unless it's better than) Having said that, you can get Child Tax Credit also!
