anybody worked at george turton platts in the mid 70s . there was a strike can anyone give me the dates please .

i worked at george turton platts from 1972 to 1980 i was press driver in the forge on the Bliss

no sorry just cant remember the dates

 

My Dad worked there in the 70s and 80 until he got made redundant but sadly he isn't here to ask.

Not a relation. Will ask me Mum which part they worked,

Also Dad worked alone most of the time.

I used to work at GTP up until 1991 and now live in Herefordshire, I worked in both the heat treatment dept and finished off in the forge. Often wondered what happened to the old place and the lads I worked with.

Did you know Arthur Lewis and his son Mark also a big gorilla of a lad called Jan? Mark still works there but i think its name has changed

 

I also knew a girl called Lorraine Selwood who worked in the office.

Sorry can't recall the names but it has been a long time, there was about 300 people at one time before redundancies thinned it out.
