Hi,

First post on here! We are re-locating back to Sheffield from down south and the area has change a lot in the past 15 years that it's been. I am looking to buy a house in Eckington and put my little boy into Birk hill school. I wondered what the school and area is like? We have searched on line and visited the area and all looks ok. Any help/advice is appreciated.

The is nothing wrong with Eckington really, the school is good enough

Its a typical ex mining village, bit backward and people might look at you like you are from outer space.

But its handy for the motorway, easy to get in to Sheffield and Chesterfield.

Also house prices are better priced then in sheffield

Seen some on Fanshaw close and fanshaw drive area.

You wont go wrong with fanshaw,Birkhill school, Eckington junior and Eckington secondray schools they are only a 5 min walk away from fanshaw,

Eckington has a few banks, swimming pool, liabry, doctors, dentist, petrol station etc .I have lived here for 40 years and would reccomend to anyone...

Good luck with your choice...

Many thanks, i think we are pretty much set on Eckington now. Are only worry in all of it is about our little one settling in a new school. He has only just started school this year so is young enough to hopefully adapt easily. He's very outgoing so we're hoping all will go well. thanks for the feedback.
