erebus   10 #1 Posted October 25, 2012 Why do the cuts mainly effect the poor?   Answer because they are powerless, and cannot do anything about it, easy to kick around, as ill educated, and cannot afford the legal fees to do anything about it. Its like taking sweets from babies, they can't do anything about it but compaalin, as they like babies are helpless, poorly organised, and ready for exploitation! Mister M Â Â 1,624 #3 Posted October 25, 2012 Lots of people are dependent on public services, the supposed middle classes as well. I guess there is much less stigma attatched to people who are articulate and know their rights. Which is not to say that some people in poverty aren't articulate....I think there is a lot of pigeon holing. Â I agree that people at the bottom end of the scrap heap shouldn't be used as a political football, or to make others feel superior about their own circumstances but that's what seems to happen. Â Early on in the credit crunch (2008/2009), there was talk in Ameica and UK of the middle classes being much more affected than working class people. Unlike previous recessions where the traditional working classes were much more vulnerable to economic insecurity. However although many people in the financial services have lost their jobs, it has tended to be at the service end (bank clerks etc), as well as businesses that have closed because they can't get loans from banks to tide them over. Mister M Â Â 1,624 #5 Posted October 25, 2012 If they screwed the rich, where would any contributions etc come from? Â I think it is true that many wealthy people pay disproportionately more, not just because there is a progressive tax system (perhaps). Â It would be interesting to see how this pattern has changed over time, as I seem to think that many years ago (1950s - 70s) the monies recieved to HMRC was much more evenly distributed from across the social spectrum. Happ Hazzard   10 #6 Posted October 25, 2012 The cuts disproportionately affect the poor because public spending disproportionately benefits the poor.
 Share this content via...
mart   71 #7 Posted October 25, 2012 There is a report on teletext today that IDS (the work & pensions sec) is considering capping child benefit after 2 children. If that did happen, then it would be the poorest affected most again.
 Share this content via...
Happ Hazzard   10 #8 Posted October 25, 2012 No, it'll be the people that have more than 2 children.
 Share this content via...
Rupert_Baehr   10 #9 Posted October 25, 2012 And the last thing you want is for people to have more children. If that was to happen - then according to arguments on other threads - the population would increase and there might be too many people to support the elderly! Happ Hazzard   10 #10 Posted October 25, 2012 No, it'd just mean we have more people on benefits, without jobs.
 Share this content via...
erebus   10 #11 Posted October 27, 2012 We must NOT screw the rich must we, as all good children know they are sacred, and they provide the jobs, hurt their deep pockets, and they hurt us? Which is bollo*KS! Why, because they got rich you nutters from paying everyone low wages and making them poor to begin with, how else does one get rich,, except to exploit the weak and stupid?  Well done for swallowing the propaganda from the rich that fed you these stupid ideas to begin with. Some just cannot see past the sound bites can they. So nice chorus from the backward!  It seems original ideas are so rare these days that the others can only chew on the bones the mainstream media push. It having too many children, is it? So its not the bankers, as they are rich and get bonuses that the average person will not get paid in 20-100 years. Politicians are the MOUTHPIECES, as in those paid by business interests to divert attention from the greedy and get those nearer the bottom of the pile to fight amongst themselves. And like dogs they fight over any bone or scraps.  We are led by idiots, who have their friends and their own interests at heart, and not the plebs at all, but they are paid to point fingers, and the dogs obey without question. Why not get a job in security so you can bash protesters, when that side of the police is privatised. Its such people that guarded the concentration camps, they needed the money, and were cheap at the price, and were paid not to notice, but obey! iron sky   10 #12 Posted October 27, 2012 Perhaps its time for the poor to stand up for themselfs and say enough is enough.
 Share this content via...
