I did'nt realise it was around in the 60s, but i did meet my ex-wife at silver blades in 1977.

Your "ex-wife".  Was she your ex-wife when you met her, or were you skating on thin ice?

So sorry to hear that Corine Sunter died & so very young. We went to the same school (Newfield Girl's) We were not in the same class nor were we friends as such but I did know Corine. Popular girl rather quiet (maybe just compared to some of us haha). Had a nice singing voice, she tok the lead part of Josephine in HMS Pinafore at school. Can't tell you much more about her though.

Hard to believe with a name like Coreen Sunter but I don’t think I am talking about the same Coreen ?

If so there’s  a lot my mom never talked about, girls school, silver blades, living on East Bank Road ?

Before marrying in 1964 she lived at  Foxhill and never said she went to a girls school !   And I’d hate for anyone to see Corine Sunter and think they’re seeing a ghost !

It was nice for a minute though, thinking I’d stumbled across some memories of her !

My Dad and Mum were both instructors at Silver Blades in Sheffield during the 60's. David Fell was my dad who taught ice dancing and Elizabeth Fell my mum. I learnt to skate there as a toddler in the early 1970's. I would love to hear from anyone who remembers my parents. My beautiful Dad passed away in 2017 after continuing to teach in Australia until he retired.

I  checked on Google, looks like a big car park now. After Mecca left, I think it became a Casino. (?)

Hi there

Seem to remember going down to see Edison Lighthouse and waiting for ages for them to come on stage.

After what seemed like hours it was announced that the lead singer had not arrived but the rest would perform anyway.

Result of this some under-age drinking and 2 pints in the upstairs bar.

Boco

When they had the gogo dancers on a plynth the ex Wednesday player Jack Whitham his wife was one of the dancers

Most of the bands were on a Saturday night they were all up and coming or never made it such as The Executive but there were also some others such as Frankenstien and the monsters(Ray Stewart). When the mummy got dragged round the ice by his heels. There were two chart topping bands on at the time Edison Lighthouse and White Plains. Anyone else remember?
